The Drowsy Chaperone is a parody of American musical comedies of the 1920’s. The story centers on a middle-aged, anti-social musical theater lover; as he listens to the record of his favorite musical hit of 1928, The Drowsy Chaperone. As he plays the record, the play miraculously comes to life in his tiny loft apartment—as he wryly comments on the music, story, and actors.
